Students were selected through a very competitive three-tier interview process in order to gain a place on the internship. The program allows students from the Singapore’s top universities to experience a real-world working environment in a fast paced software company.
“With hands on involvement in day to day projects, ranging from software development to testing and deployment, the interns have had no shortage of exposure and insight into what awaits them on completion of their studies” says Stuart Lakin, who lead the internship program at Signbox.
Signbox Microsystems specialises in software to run large digital signage network solutions that include video walls, audience measurement tools and interactive displays, working with partners such as Intel, IBM, Advantech and NEC.
The two internships were awarded to Rajesh Maddala and Pavan Parthasarathy, both from the National University of Singapore (NUS) graduate school of software engineering. NUS has continued to deliver professional and knowledgeable students according to Stuart Lakin, Director at Signbox. “We must congratulate both interns on their work, and also congratulate Pavan individually as he has been awarded a coveted Graduate Research role at NUS in the coming year. We look forward to them completing their studies and applying for full time roles here with us.”
Rajesh described his experience as ‘fun learning’ and continued to say “…my experience as an intern with Signbox closed the gap between what I have learnt at university and the real world corporate environment. Signbox has an amazing workplace, the co-workers are helpful and cooperative and it provides a rare opportunity to get involved in all aspects of software. I am definitely looking forward to the opportunity of working with Signbox in the future.”
“It was an excellent learning experience here at Signbox. At NUS, I had acquired a skill set that closely matches with the IT Industry. Now this experience has consolidated those skills with real-world practice that involves everything from requirements gathering to supporting the deployed application. It was a great experience overall. I look forward to working with Signbox in the future,” said Pavan Parthasarathy.
“The calibre of the students interviewed was very high, and we have been delighted by the enthusiasm and output of our interns during the period. We will definitely be looking to repeat this process over the next few months” continued Lakin.
